Pros

Pay, benefits, location, the culture, the people I've been at the company for a long time and seen a lot of changes. Our new CEO is not only trying very hard to modernize our company and recognize our employees as capable and trustworthy people (Hey, he finally eased up on some of the internet blockings recognizing that we are professionals who are still going to get our job done, and don't need to be policed. Our work will tell the story.), but he has also put forth an outstanding effort at getting our name out in the community at large with our MS150 cycling team, the Heart Walk, and other community events. It's evident that some departments are significantly more overworked than others, but I can say that my area is very respectful of the work/life balance and do seem to honestly care about employees as people, rather than just processors. We have a partially company-subsidized cafeteria with numerous options, including a full salad bar with two soup selection daily along with a grill, sandwich bar, and two main entree selections at very reasonable prices. For breakfast, there's a grill along with steel cut oats with fixings, bread/pastry options, breakfast tacos and other items. There is also an onsite gym with showers and lockers, and some group-led exercise classes. The healthy lifestyle program encourages employees to be active, and there are several opportunities to win money or other prizes throughout the year as incentive.

Cons

There appears to be a large level of disparity between employee's satisfaction levels in different departments. The only other con I can think of is the lack of a more flexible schedule option, but as an insurance company we need to be available when our agents and the majority of our policyholders are available. Work from home would be a nice option for a couple of days a week.

Pros

The mission and resources can be counted as pros as compared to other carriers, benefits are decent

Cons

Supervisor and Senior management additions and changes have been a nightmare. Abrupt changes to content and standards have been implemented with no guidance or direction. Already unmanageable workloads have doubled because directives are unclear, inefficient and not thought out, not from any realistic perspective from people completing the work. Staff is struggling to adapt to changes but supervisors and management insist “ we figure it out” burning valuable time guessing and results being rejected. Excessive meetings are help and promise to reduce workloads and provide clarification but things continue to deteriorate. Existing staff is required to attend extensive leadership training he but when positions open, outside candidates are hired WITH NO EXPERIENCE in lieu of current dedicated employees. Staff struggled to understand the roles of management as they don’t provide guidance or support and often have no recent work g knowledge of the current job, it’s demands and it’s process.
