Pros

Great people that makes coming to work a joy

Cons

Not every person in leadership should be a manager, need a more robust HR team outside of executive team to support and advocate for staff Location is South Seattle, agility is necessary for having great staff that live further away. Remote and Hybrid was clearly not eagerly acceptable by executive team although incredibly beneficial to staff

Pros

* These folks walk and the walk and talk the talk unapologetically. * In it for the long haul. * Constant growth mindset. * Here for the kids in a solid, genuine way. * More into honesty than butt-coverage. * First place I've been that takes mental health seriously. * When most places use the word "family," it's not a plus. Here, they do actually appreciate you and your contributions with some of those warm fluffy feels that come from a genuine place.

Cons

* School partners don't always cooperate, which can get awkward. * Some job openings are replied to faster than others. * Rewarding does not equal stress-free. If you're here, you're *working.* * Site workers could use more connections with the office and visa versa

Pros

You can do fulfilling work while you are there (especially if you are working with students and families) but everything is always at the expense of the workplace. They care very little in investing in you which is why there is so much turnover. That being said, the work that you do with kids and their families can be meaningful and they tend to appreciate you.

Cons

Work policies are very outdated and the executive leadership sometimes has policies that are shady and not transparent. They are focused on expanding but don't even know what to do with the employees and policies that they have in place right now. There are multiple vacancies open, many have been open for more than six months. I did enjoy my job and time when I was working there, but the management likes to play favorites with people who are there. They pay below market rate (even for other nonprofits) and it makes you wonder if you can do the same thing or even greater things at another place and making even more money. There is limited flexibility but only for some people who are there and liked. You are also expected to do "more with less," which is happening a lot right now, but at TAF it seems like it's way too much. Support is limited and leadership just wants you to fix things without giving you much direction or support.
