TechArk Solutions

Is this your company?

This is not a good business to work for. The ego-driven owner is the problem and that will not change. - Anonymous employee TechArk Solutions Employee Review

Pros

Work here if you are desperate for a job or you want to make a career change to the tech industry and build a portfolio. Most of the staff are nice and it's a good place to get your feet wet since the stakes are relatively small. However, keep applying to other jobs as you will not want to stay at TechArk for long, at all.

Cons

- The owner's laughably bad decision-making and cost-cutting measures left employees constantly putting out his fires. The owner made a habit of over-promising work to clients at impossibly cheap rates. This led to woefully understaffed/inexperienced teams building websites for clients who were told they were getting cutting-edge technology. The clients were always upset with what they got, the employee moral was always low, but the business-owner happily patted himself on the back thinking he did a good job by making a sale and blamed his team for not delivering. I watched this happen over and over again. - The computers made available to staff were outdated Dell DESKTOPS...at a web/mobile agency where employees need to do offsite client presentations and demos. As a result, most of the staff were forced to use their own personal computers to do work, since company-provided options were inadequate. - Compensation was 20-30% lower than similar jobs in the Hampton roads area The owner stated this was because TechArk was a "startup" but he also liked to tell people it was an "award winning agency" and had been in business for multiple years. Successful businesses compensate their employees appropriately. - The smart/talented new hires would see these issues and leave for new jobs within 6 months.
