Pros
You are free to explore new ideas and experiment new technologies most of the time. Very flexible work hours and very much like a company if you consider it is a research lab (not sure if this is a pro).
Cons
When compared to a company it has no structure. Most employees have no official contract and it is impossible to work as CLT. Salary ranges are defined based on a table that doesn't make any sense, so in some cases salaries are paid in two different ways to adjust it to the "system" limitations. There are simply no benefits like health care, food support or anything else.
