Pros
Beautiful artworks – a national collection – and many great, enthusiastic colleagues who deeply care about art, the museum and its audiences. It felt like a huge privilege to get to access the museum as an employee for several years
Cons
There was a sense of people being overworked and underpaid. It was also hard to progress within the organisation, and issues to do with inclusion and diversity. Different departments were siloed and separated often, with a major divide between front of house and back of house. Security, cleaning and front of house do great work which, to me, felt severely under appreciated.
