Pros

Large classrooms with good facilities, genuine freedom to develop and shape the curriculum, and a caring, supportive staff body.

Cons

Negative management culture, inconsistent pay across responsibility levels, and the absence of course-lead roles in my department, seemingly to keep salaries lower.

Pros

I was able to negotiate a daily rate after previously being paid for class only.

Cons

The department office culture was not friendly to me, and found myself having to work in the canteen just to escape the frequency casual racism undertones of office banter. I felt I couldn't say anything, because I needed the money.

Pros

I'm not sure there are any, unless you're in the clique.

Cons

SLT are absolutely clueless about reasonable adjustments. Rather than foster supportive and inclusive environments, they point the finger and accuse of laziness. Access to Work got involved and adjustments were still not made. Teaching staff and SLT look down upon the support staff who work tirelessly to reengage students and demand disciplinary action for safeguarding concerns. Incestuous culture of offering positions to those with family already within the institution. Incredibly high staff turnover across all curriculum areas. There's no consistency and quality because there's no recognition of the importance of current educational research. Those who speak out and mention this are deemed trouble makers, despite being substantially more qualified and experienced (track record of exceptional student outcomes, MAs, PhDs) simply because their face doesn't fit. SLT will interview those who do not meet the full criteria of the post, demonstrating a complete lack of competence in the selection processes. The current vacancies on the website are referencing the Lifelong Learning UK standards, which haven't existed since March 2011. Concerning given their recent Ofsted inspection. Are SLT even aware?
