Pros
I've worked as a therapist here since April. So far the work has been decent. I work fairly independently, and decent work culture in my department. Pay is consistent with other behavioral health agencies.
Cons
The primary con is the medical benefits. They do not contract with Children's Hospital, meaning if you have kids and go there your insurance won't cover it. I didn't learn this until orientation when they glossed over it as an aside detail. They handed out a financial assistance form and told us that if we need to take our kids there to fill that out. More recently they have informed us that Children's will no longer offer assistance to us and that we should utilize other options. When asked, they recommended Dayton Children's, trihealth for primary care, and Christ for ear, nose and throat. My family also received services through Children's recently before this announcement and are now receiving substantial bills that are larger than my salary. If you have children, and will rely on insurance through Talbert House then you may not want to apply. Had I known this, I wouldn't have applied. I may even have to look elsewhere is this isn't resolved. It's just hard to believe that we live in a city with one of the best children's hospitals and we can't go there.
