Pros
At least when I was there, they had the best benefits and perks of any company I've ever worked for. An amazing health plan, short term disability and family leave, great 401k match, tuition reimbursement, a free gym in house, sports club, fantastic in house cafeteria, lots of lunch meetings. The pay and bonuses were also outstanding. Of course, that was when I was there in 2000's and early 2010s. This might have changed now. I had my reasons for leaving that had nothing to do with Takeda, and I really miss it there. If I could go back to Illinois, I absolutely would!
Cons
Like anywhere, there are certain positions that get less respect and have less room to grow than others (customer service, administrative assistants, etc.), but if you are ambitious and network, you can find your way. You just have to be patient. There are lots of different departments so if you have issues with your boss or co-workers there are other opportunities if you can wait for them. Some managers are more flexible than others. Some are arrogant egotists. Some of the staff can be jerky. But you get that anywhere.
