Schedules are tight and the expectation is that you will work overtime to make up for management's overcommitments.
If you don't work overtime, then socially you will become a pariah in your section. As you are increasing your colleagues workload by not working overtime.
Everything you do is micromanaged. Even emails to external vendors must be approved by management 2 levels above you.

Vacations and breaks are not encouraged, but are challenged by management.
