Pros

- Employee discount, although minimal (10%) - Pay starts at $9 hourly, good compared to other work - $1 raise from $9 to $10 after 6 months - Small but not minimal chance of promotion - Flexible hours and scheduling - Generally friendly coworkers

Cons

- Breaks are short; you only get 15 minutes if you work 4 hours. That's 3 hours and 45 minutes standing on your feet. - Minors do not get paid for their breaks / meals and are required to clock out - Hours change every week, you can get a shift starting at 10:30AM one day and 6:45PM the next day - Cashiers are pressured to coerce and swindle unsuspecting customers into opening TJX Rewards credit cards. Cashiers have to meet a quota (usually 2 to 4 cards per cashier per shift) If they do not meet the quota, they are heavily chastised by management - Management will make you feel bad for taking a personal / sick day (calling out) and will make every attempt to pressure you to come to work - Pay can be increased more, $10 does not cut it for most of us who don't work multiple jobs & are students - Trainees are not officially trained, they are simply placed into a department and expected to know what to do right off the bat - All management cares about are the stupid credit cards

Pros

-flexible and accomodating hours - good partime job for college student - very neutral experience, but the fact that it wasn't terrible makes it a pro -10% employee discount

Cons

-lower pay than other retail places ($12 when I was there) - general cons that just come with retail (rude customers, boring tasks, etc.) - store is constantly being rearranged, and is also disorganized on purpose so customers have to search through/look at more things to find what they are looking for -CONSTANTLY having to push the TJ Maxx credit card and having managers literally walk by to make sure you are - can't wear t-shirts or any graphic tees including ones in the store (which always bothered me because if they can sell it I should be able to wear it)
