Pros

TIAA serves educators, medical professionals and non profits. As a result you work with participants who are for the most part such wonderful, caring and intelligent people. The company does have a great culture (particularly at the Denver office where I worked). The leaders are really focused on the mission of the company and the people who work to deliver that mission to the participants and institutions they serve. I had fantastic leaders and coworkers and felt proud to have worked for the organization. They really did invest in their team members with additional training opportunities. I think that the benefits offered by TIAA are very competitive and are a real pro to working for the company.

Cons

The company is large and has been around over 100 years. Many of the processes and systems seem like they were cobbled together and don't work as efficiently as they could. I know that the company is working to create a modern and efficient new technology eco system and improved processes through strategic partnership with Accenture, but that change seems to be happening more slowly than it feels like it should. I hope that they accelerate this process to provide a better experience for the employees of the organization and for their participants.

Pros

Great work life balance, good benefits, decent pay, ease of running your own practice as an “advisor”, and healthy work environment

Cons

Management styles can vary and affect your experience, upper management doesn’t seem to be well equipped to ensure the organization’s success but it is resilient nonetheless.

Pros

Compensation is great for advisors once they are promoted to VP. Everyone else has to wait a year and hope for a good rating that's more of a game than merit based

Cons

Woke culture, reverse discrimination, very frustrating to do business with as a client
