Pros

The people are great. There are lots of very smart individuals who are always willing to help. The products are best-of-breed.

Cons

Broadcom is steadily destroying the engineering-driven culture that Blue Coat and Greg Clark (CEO) and Brian NeSmith (original CEO) had cultivated. No one in upper management is technical and the the things that made Blue Coat great - that made us number one in the enterprise market - are completely lost on them. There are still a number of seniors / architects around who have been here ten or fifteen years or more, but they're steadily being pushed out. The fact that there are so many engineers with that kind of tenure speaks for itself. That's pretty rare in this industry. However, their knowledge and talents are not appreciated by the current regime. They're too expensive and money is king. If you're looking for a challenge - a job where you can work hard, build a quality product and be rewarded for it - then look elsewhere. Blue Coat was that company, but Broadcom is not.
