Pros

Coworkers, benefits, helping families and children.

Cons

Where to start...This is the type of agency that in one hand needs to save money by cutting whole departments while at the same time decides to promote the CEOs buddies to new levels. Apparently there is a need to have sites with a Vice-President 2, a Vice-President 1, AVP, Director, Assistant Directors and supervisors. What these people do all day is a mystery. I imagine they spend their day telling each other how innovative they are and agreeing with the latest half-baked idea from ELT. A place where the technology is at least 5 years behind (hello Windows 7) and saves money by providing new phones with 3G technology. The laptops are a relic from 7 years ago. Forget having a tablet or a working hot spot. An agency that thinks that therapist’s time should be spent doing data entry, making photocopies, and dealing with the worst Electronic Health Record known to man. An agency that decides to do an open floor plan for all their new buildings but has no space for sessions or for staff to work quietly. Where decisions, such as centralizing all the agency’s referral teams, tripling the amount of residential beds, going into Adult Mental Health or eliminating the whole IT department are done haphazardly, with little or no planning and no consultation from the staff that is actually doing the job. Working here feels like a rollercoaster managed by the whims of a toddler. Just when you think that things are stable, ELT comes up with a new way to create chaos in the name of innovation. There is a strong culture of favoritism, particularly for males. There is a lot of talk about accountability, but that is only true of some line staff. Senior management never take responsibility for errors or mismanagement and there is an expectation for all personnel not to question or complain the bad decisions made. An agency that wants you to pretend you are part of an innovative, forward looking organization while you are working in a bloated dinosaur run by people interested in maintaining their salaries and status. There is no integrity or regard to the hard work done by line staff everyday. I hope the Board wakes up and changes the leadership.

Pros

Good teaming from colleagues, great clinical experience, rewarding work with clients, opportunities for trainings, great way to get clinical hours and supervision

Cons

Hard to feel valued, micromanagement, PTO accrues slowly, upper management can be rigid about approving time off requests, large focus on productivity makes the mission at times feels dissonant from the boots on the ground work
