Pros
What I learned I retained after taking a long time off from the trucking industry. While Swift would not have me, another company did hire me on and I picked it all up again in regards to my skills in regards to how to set myself up for backing etc. etc. They did get me to Canada at the very least and to other states I thought I would never see so got what I wanted out of them for starters. Good company truck maintenance and trailer maintenance and can always rely on service during a breakdown. Got my tuition reimbursement for staying the minimal time with Swift.
Cons
Compensation wasn't nearly enough to match the type of hours you put into the job. Then there was the shaving of miles based on whatever system they had in place. Also being governed at 60 mph was not good either as you made less at a by the mile rate. They are a starter company and a mill for truckers. I drive on my own terms now as a casual driver while maintaining a primary job vs. getting back into the industry full time and I like that setup for the most part.
