Pros

Good lifeguard training. Lots of opportunities for teens and the work is pretty easy, although you will run into issues that test your people skills at the pools. Just know you can't make everyone happy and do your best. (Water's too hot, water not clean enough, too much chemical in pool, why can't we swim even though there's lightening, we don't like that person's radio music, we want to keep running and jumping into pool, etc.) Got to use my Spanish language skills at some pools. Can pick up a lot of hours towards end of season because turnover is high and many lifeguards quit before season is over. BE PREPARED TO WORK EVERY SUMMER HOLIDAY. It's a pool company--leisure is their business. You work when the general public doesn't. Surprises me that some lifeguards don't get this and want time off.

Cons

Extremely poor communication skills w/lifeguards. Office doesn't respond to emails. Training expensive. Often called in on days off after working 9-10 hour days for 5-6 days in a row. Can get called to work pool across Houston. Meetings are all near Sugar Land--not good for inexperienced teen drivers to travel from all over greater Houston on freeways for them. Basic lifeguard training usually at pool near your home zip, but more advanced training all done in Spring Branch. WATCH YOUR PAYCHECK. They don't calculate it correctly FREQUENTLY and you have to argue with office to get it corrected. Calendar hours aren't posted very timely--hard to make personal or family plans. You'll spend a lot on uniforms too--company doesn't help pay for any of the uniform.
