Pros
Lots of experience. If you want to learn EMS, work here. Newer equipment, progressive SOPs, and monthly trainings.
Cons
The workload is too high. Too many people call off and the company doesn't compensate for it. EMTs are not valued, at all. They are treated like ambulance driving stretcher-fetchers. The fire department is king here and they know it. You'll be treated like dirt for several years until you get in good with them. No night shift differential. Benefits suck. You cannot get a day off when you request it. I could go on, and on, and on.
