Pros
- A genuinely strong product that had the potential to be a market leader - So many smart folks who care about the product and the work they do - Freedom and independence to run your projects - Decent compensation
Cons
- Compensation is never adjusted - NOT even based on your performance. - Managers lie about no budgets. But, you will witness promotions–folks who are "loyal" to the leadership. - The sales team is forced to pitch a product with features that don't exist and then the product and engineering teams scramble to put together a low-quality update without appropriate research. - There are no roadmaps, no Northstar vision. Talented folks are working on small surface area adjustments to the product and no one is solving a real problem. - Leadership is short-sighted and wants to fill their pockets quickly with no consideration for people who are working hard to build a better product. - Some managers are masked and probably not qualified or have the right training to lead the product and guide their teams. - The new M&A is probably in prep for an exit strategy, that has resulted in layoffs and a decline in positive company culture. - If you are looking to grow and build a decent career, look elsewhere.
