Believe in the mission and you'll be fine - Public Relations Intern StuffDOT Employee Review

Pros

Since StuffDOT is a startup company, the environment is innovative, young and curious. Upper management listens to all ideas, and takes them into consideration during brainstorming sessions. You're able to try and fail with projects as you see fit, and ultimately make the internship experience as meaningful as you'd like. It's really up to the individual.

Cons

Obviously, working unpaid is difficult. But with a startup, you should understand that's what you're signing up for. If you work hard enough, however, compensation can be in your future (as it was in mine and for a handful of others). In addition, management lets you schedule hours in an extremely flexible manner, as students have busy schedules and classes to work around.

Pros

The team is hilarious and super fun to work, and they have a clear vision for the future of the company. Additionally, they give me enough work to where I feel as if I am actually contributing something meaningful to the company. My voice and opinion is definitely heard with StuffDOT.

Cons

Occasionally my commute is difficult, but it generally works out because they are understanding and I can do a lot of my work on the computer.

Pros

I worked at StuffDOT for 4 months as a marketing intern. I was able to work on projects that interested me and allowed me to focus on skills that were important in the field I was pursuing. I enjoyed group brainstorming sessions where we were encouraged to share ideas, and unlike so many other places I've worked, management actually listened. They were supportive and offered guidance. I always felt like I was contributing, like my work was just as important as everyone else's. It was a great team atmosphere, very positive. I can honestly say that the skills I honed while at StuffDOT helped me get a job in marketing. I also received a great letter of recommendation. Part of me wishes I never left, great things are on the horizon for StuffDOT.

Cons

Unpaid internships are challenging, but sometimes necessary to gain experience in a tough field.
