Pros

I never got passed getting a job offer, so I have nothing to say.

Cons

My experience negotiating with SEI-US for fair benefits was demoralizing. After going through a long, intense interview process, I received a job offer for a job that I was very excited about. I found out that I was pregnant right before I got the offer, so I disclosed my situation, assuming they would be understanding. Since it is a science-based, progressive organization, I did not expect them to withhold their parental leave benefits, even though I would be there shy of one year before needing to take leave. They initially refused to provide any paid leave. When I pressed them to reconsider this from an equity perspective, the best they could do was to offer 3 weeks of paid leave. They even had the gall to suggest I could defray some of the costs of my parental leave by using the payout from my former employer for unused vacation days.
