Pros

Based on your own work ethic, you’ll get the miles. If you’re lazy and put in the minimum then you’ll get the minimum. Work hard, On time delivery then you’ll get the long good miles. It’s all about your attitude and learning to play the game. Great training company, you’ll get amazing experience with hands on guidance from managers who do seem to care. Safety Department can be anal about details but are also understanding. Show that you can run hard and do it safely, then you’ll be left alone. Be reckless then you’ll be monitored. STEVENS doesn’t mess around with Safety. I run an average of 2,800-4,000 miles a week solo...now that I’m a Trainer, it’s a bit higher. Build your reputation as reliable and safe then you’ll get the miles.

Cons

Their Safety Department is very tough, for good reason, yes—but they can be sometimes a little overboard. Weekend Dispatch and managers are an absolute joke. Seriously. Be smart and get loads that run you through Friday night and Monday morning. There’s over 2,800 drivers driving all over the country and maybe ten staff employees working on the weekends. Come 5pm, headquarters becomes a ghost town but the drivers are still working 24/7. Perhaps hire a few more Driver Managers and Dispatchers for the weekend, maybe? Driver Managers, it’s a flip of the coin. Mine is amazing and genuinely cares. He takes care of me and gets me what I need. But he’s overwhelmed daily with 67 drivers to manage. That’s on the low end. I’ve known other DMs with over 75 drivers on their fleets. So, expect communication to be difficult during different aspects of the day/week.

Pros

- The structure of the building is very strong and would be sufficient during a tornado. - The filtered water hydration stations are handy.

Cons

In this modern‑day allegory of the Eagles’ classic Hotel California, the story begins with the first red flag. Not the waving, crimson‑colored beacon kind, no, it starts with the small pause that makes you question whether something actually happened. Is that really the method? Is that a fax machine? Do people actually hide in the bathrooms? Working there can feel like assembling a puzzle without a box lid, while passerby drop random pieces onto the table, pieces that don’t even belong to your puzzle. As a generationally deep, family‑owned and operated business, the boundaries stretch endlessly, extending even to neighbors of a cousin. Bright eyes dim quickly, office directions are given by changes in carpet patterns, and punctuation is treated as optional. For an industry that deserves appreciation and elevation for the undervalued work of the professional driver, the ownership has no problem taking accolades for miles they’ve never driven, pushing out the changemakers, and clinging to a rinse‑and‑repeat method that mirrors the very definition of insanity.
