1. Founders - for a startup there needs to be synergy among its founders. Here, it was definitely not there. One of the founders (the 'CEO') - after spending close to six months in the firm, I still have no idea what his job is. And I have asked around, and most people don't know. I couldn't figure out how does he impact business. Once in a while, he would get behind some initiative but didn't really see it through. Second, the CTO. I have not seen him in office for long durations. His team does not respect him for both his lack of presence and his focus on unnecessary projects. Never seen him work late or exert himself too much. Third, the COO & CFO - among the three he looks easily the best but lot of credit goes to the other 2 founders. He has good product knowledge and domain understanding and comes up with good ideas and has conceptualized this startup. 2. No understanding of costs. Bloated company. What 50 people do can be done by 25 people. People don't seem occupied for 40 hours / week. Yet, management thinks hiring more is going to solve problems. 3. Stakeholder management: They don't treat owners well. Very frequently they renege on the original agreements and sometimes reduce by as much as 30-50%. Extreme lack of professionalism in these matters 4. Poor hiring: People have made their teams like their own bastions and are not open to criticism. No formal appraisal system, no way to give a rating to people's work (including founders).
