Pros

Job stability. State Farm being the largest auto insurer in the nation is not going anywhere! State Farm also has a great benefit package.

Cons

A person cannot succeed in this company on their own merit. One succeeds based on who they know and how much they kiss up to management. Raises are based on how well your manager likes you... not at all on your accomplishments. State Farm is not consistent throughout. Some employees may feel like they get free time to spend with their children. But that is because they do not work in Auto Claim Central(ACC). In ACC a person has to work7-3:30, 8-4:30, 9-5:30 and 12:30 -9, so there is not much flexibility. Often employees will have to work all 4 shifts in one week.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
