Pros
State Farm has good training regimens. The State Farm agent really wants you to succeed mainly because that is how they are compensated from the corporate office. Corporate sends out newsletters to keep their employees abreast of company issues. There was an opportunity for me to be promoted to selling financial services, but once I realized the sales would come from cold calls only, I declined.
Cons
Very low pay and no benefits. I was working on commission only which is not a smart thing to agree to if you are just starting out as an insurance salesman. I did not like only making cold calls. You could rarely even get an appointment with prospective buyers much less a sell.
