Pros

Alternative Work Schedule, Hotelling, Health and Dental Benefits

Cons

State Fund was a great place to work when I first started. I worked as a Senior Claims Adjuster for many years before retiring in 2018. It’s turned downhill these past few years. The company forced me into a spot where I felt pressured to retire. I would never recommend working here with the changes that have been made in the claims department. Employee morale is very low. Management (ACMs) will write you up for anything. They are blaming Adjusters for the failures of management. They are micromanaging now because they are desperate for settlements. You’ll be asked to blind call the injured worker prematurely before MMI, and force the injured worker into a position where they feel so uncomfortable they have to settle their case. You’ll get blamed for your poor customer service. We were all forced to do a yearlong customer service training program called EDGE, taking time away from our work schedule. Later, we were asked why we were so behind on our work. Because we were doing EDGE, work-ups, ODG, case plans, review requests, and everything else you asked us to do! They are also doing phone audits now too. So make sure you answer your phone or you’ll get written up! ACMs put so much work on you, and blame you for everything. The work environment is hostile. You’ll get harassed to get things done. Your ACM will linger over your shoulder to look for any opportunity to dock you down. And you’ll get written up if you challenge your ACM’s ideas. This is not how claims adjusting should be. Adjusters have been driven to a point where there is no autonomy anymore. You work is based on your ACM’s schedule, demands, and needs. If you don’t cater to your ACM, you’ll get written up. Take my advice, find another state agency to work for. The pay is low, and the harassment, stress, and headaches you get at State Fund is not worth it.
