Pros
There are lots of opportunities if you are interested in internal mobility. The appraisal is unique. It's not just the superior grading the subordinates but subordinates get to grade their superior as well, which is a more effective way of judging the capability of a leader to lead the team.
Cons
Information could be withheld at times and does not come about easily. There could be long working hours for some teams.
