Pros
Friendly atmosphere and a collegial environment. Students can be very good to work with sometimes. Disagreements are well tolerated in most cases, but it does depend on the nature of those disagreements. The Christian confession of the school is taken quite seriously and that makes for an excellent faith community that is very tightly bonded together. The faculty and staff are a pretty compassionate and caring bunch and they are, for the most part, a joy to work with. There is also an exercise facility on campus that faculty and staff can use at their leisure. The administration tries to be fair.
Cons
The pay is lousy. There is no other way to say this. The health benefits were quite good at one time, but now have degenerated into an plan that covers very little and leaves paying for lots of things out of pocket. Some of the students are a pain. They expect much in the way of grades for virtually no investment by them. Academic achievement is very underrated and funds for research are scant. There is a grant officer who works very hard, but she has little to work with. Previous administrators have expressed little respect for the work done by faculty.
