Pros
Notice period is less and negotiable :), so if you did the mistake of joining the company and then later want to correct it, then it will just be matter of few days (notice period) when you can be out of this so called startup.
Cons
1. Zero respect for anyone. Most arrogant and egoistic management that is possible. 2. In the name of startup (mind you its a start up, even though it is somehow dragging on since last 7-8 years), they will ask to work 14-16 hrs a day. Weekends are luxury and you will be made to feel guilty that you did not work on the weekend of so and so date. 3. Management probably doesn't even know how to spell planning, forget about actually doing it. Work is allocated like this: - Task 1: Employee says it will take 3 days. Management says, come on its a startup, we need it by today EOD by all means. Then they will literally laugh at employee in front of everyone. - Task 2: Employee says it will take 5 day as it needs some research. Management says, don't worry I will help you. They will do google search and send you 2-3 links (which employee would have already done) and then they will say, see now with this help, you have to do it in next 16 hrs and mind you in these 16 hrs, I will have 4 meetings to ask status of this task. 4. Lack of planning means being in war room mode all the time. War room means status every 6 hrs, calls even after 10:00 PM every day, no weekends, no holidays. This continues on and on, until you resign or you die. 5. Many times you have to beg for your own salary. Forget about getting it on time, you will get it only if you ask for it...then they will say, we are working on it, then more wait..but you will get eventually someday. Though they have now improved upon it. So, please join this if you have no love for your family, your time, your health or yourself. BTW, it got acquired by Fiserv recently, so now the recruitment would be done in name of Fiserv, but don't get into the trap as the management is still same. Only the 5th point above may change. PS: None of this is exaggeration. If you think it is just a rant from some one off employee, please join the company and we can chat about this after you complete your notice period there (which will be soon). Only condition is that you need to love something in your life :)
