Pros

You have to be very creative to perform well under so heavy boundaries. It is a great brain exercise.

Cons

Be proactive is said to be a core value in theory. In practice everything needs to go under centralized committees. Ideas get killed under such heavy bureaucracy. Be adaptable is said to be a core value in theory. In practice things are requested to be planned with many months in advance with low adaptability to inner or outer conditions. Blind way of driving. Be professional is said to be a core value in theory. In practice professional trainings are a one time event. Very scarce. Be accountable is said to be a core value in theory. In practice works as a one way street from last centuries way of leading. Outdated nowadays.

Let me start by saying I appreciate your feedback. In a rapidly expanding business like ours, I believe strong values are absolutely fundamental to achieving long-term success. Sovos values guide how we behave and act, collectively and individually. They shape the culture and define the personality of our organization. Nothing is more important to me. Unfortunately, your experience is not up to our standards. This is unacceptable to me. I’d like to learn more about your views. I encourage you to schedule time to discuss your thoughts with me personally. Until then, let me address your comments directly. Our core values are based on the behaviors exhibited by our most successful people. We use our values as a lens for hiring and performance management. Our values are enduring and meant to be acted upon thereby shaping the culture and defining the personality of our organization. Be Proactive -- Our flat org structure and collaborative environment is designed to allow you to take action to solve problems, work proactively, address issues as they arise, and see your ideas in action. It’s perhaps the value most unique to Sovos. While some controls are important in an organization of our scale, we want your voice to be heard. Be Adaptable -- In a market that is changing dynamically under our feet, we must be both visionary and nimble enough to respond quickly. The nature of our industry requires a balance of thoughtful planning and highly adaptable execution. It sounds like we should give you more visibility into how we achieve this balance. Be Professional -- We invest heavily in providing education and are adding more programs and systems to support personal development. It isn’t a completely altruistic pursuit. We believe there is a direct relationship between personal growth and organizational performance. I’d encourage you to spend some time learning about available professional education programs by speaking with your manager or local HR contact. Be Accountable – To me, there is no more important behavior than accountability. We believe organizational performance improves when people take greater accountability and ownership for results. We further believe our organization will not succeed in the long run unless people assume accountability for achieving desired results. If you have examples where we haven’t lived up to this core principle, I want to learn more. Our values are at the core of everything we do so I take the issues you raise seriously. It’s important to me that we consistently demonstrate behavior aligned with the organization’s core values. I hope you’ll reach out to me to discuss with the intent of making sure our company’s actions match our words. - Andy

Thank you for sharing this, and welcome to the team! It's wonderful to hear that your recruiting experience set such a positive tone from the start. Cassie is a great example of the kind of Sovosians we are proud to have representing our culture, and knowing she made you feel informed and at ease throughout the process genuinely matters to us. We also love hearing that your first day onboarding helped you connect with our values and get a feel for what we do. That experience is something we work hard to get right, and your feedback confirms it's landing the way we intend. We're glad you're here, and we look forward to growing together. Pros

Being Remote and standard benefits

Cons

Sales leadership is horrendous. New people are brought in not trained, aggressive targets (that have never been hit) usually designed to be the escape goats to protect the old guard. Long tenured sales protects the existing power structures. When results slip, they blame newer reps. New hires don’t hit, quotas unrealistic, weak implementation. Nightmare of a company, the worst I have ever worked at.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. Feedback matters, even when we see things differently. Quota-setting and new hire ramp structures are areas we invest in seriously - they're because we want our sellers to win, not to set anyone up to fail. That's the culture we've built, and it's one I'm proud of. That said, I do hear that your experience hasn't matched that intent. If there are specific gaps in how you were onboarded or supported, I'd genuinely like to understand them so we can keep getting better. Please connect with HR or reach out to me directly. We're committed to building a team where every rep has a real shot at success! Alice Katwan, President of Revenue, Sovos
