Pros

SoBRO has some very talented personnel with the potential to help a lot of people in the South Bronx community...

Cons

...unfortunately, they let too many things fall through the cracks. If you are employed there, you learn the full extent of their mediocrity. When I say it's the dumbest place I've ever worked, I don't say it lightly. Truly every decision that comes from management is idiotic. It's statistically fascinating how terrible SoBRO's management is. People in important positions with important information get laid off without even a rudimentary contingency plan. As a result, everyone has to start from scratch and scramble in chaos. High-level positions are left vacant for months. No effort is made to maintain the high-level contacts of departed staff. Communication overall is terrible. Getting colleagues to respond to major issues and meet deadlines is a consistent challenge. Often the information provided for high-level projects is false or inaccurate. Board involvement is non-existent. Management rarely communicates with staff - no staff meetings, no morale boosters, no congratulations for successes. All the very simple and inexpensive things an organization can do to positively engage its staff are ignored. Staff morale is the lowest I've ever seen. And, as far as I can tell, anyone who addresses the problems of the organization gets fired. It's not an openly hostile work environment, but if you decide to work here, you'll notice some paranoia among employees. From what I experienced, that paranoia is not unfounded in the least.
