Pros
The best thing about SoundCommerce is the people. People are serious about being successful, but friendly and supportive. The second best thing, as a programmer, is the interesting problem and the technology we're using. Learning functional programming using Scala has been fun, and the architecture and platform are pretty cutting edge.
Cons
Since the company is small, when things need to get done, the responsibility of an individual can be significant. Sometimes there's a crunch and we have to work extra to pull it off. That's the exception rather than the rule though, and the norm is a healthy balance.
