Pros

*good people onsite and elsewhere *you can learn a lot if you put your time and effort on it outside work

Cons

*Generally speaking the company makes things in a different way that any rational company does: it's anti conformist in a business (IT) which is based on standards so it's very odd, unconventional and buggy *complete disregard for the written word: management don't read correctly what you write as they are in a reaction mode, not in response mode. Docs parts can be meaningless and what is written there can't be trusted for troubleshooting, it's sometimes even written with bad grammar and makes no sense. Who review them? Who validated them? Is there a documentation and KB team? Haven't you noticed that knowledge workers use written information to work and that information needs to be checked and validated before publication? *competition between certain offices who don't know each other !!! *no engineer culture: just lots of routines to launch at problems instead of root cause analysis, this comes down from very bad initial training which don't grow your knowledge in a structured manner and a culture of fast action and zero reflection. *no training on reading very odd logs which logs information from modules which we had no training on... *noisy place: hard to focus when people talk both in front of you, on your back, on your sides, play snooker or ping pong, cook and eat, laugh, eat and drink at their desk, run around, talk about personal stuff at their desk and generally speaking are not in a work mindset / culture *cumbersome, unclear, undefined always changing bureaucratic inefficient processes (half an afternoon to book your holidays for example, dozens chats in MS Teams to find information / people you look for *everybody has his onenote notes meaning they work in Silos -> it's a real mess in the heads of people there and they add more and more source of 'information' by the day) -> this result in tons of contradictions as everybody has his own view on one problem and its solution *documentation is not up to date: you get KB for products which have been obsolete since 5 years when you search in Salesforce *products don't get patch meaning customers have to wait next versions for getting their issue solved and there are 10s of versions to be supported resulting in a very messy and unreliable customer infrastructure and customer support *file naming convention for products is odd and unreadable -> you can't easily search them *Saleforce filtering for files, dates is bugged meaning over a month you spend hours finding what you look for *the developers take months stuck in bureaucracy to solve bugs and their attention is divided on so many products to support which makes them slow *no feedback and no growth culture: your ideas go straight to the trash as they don't leave your office while your management is powerless to get them applied or even heard -> it's a the boss knows it all culture and everything is dictated from Canada main office, no real communication between the various offices and each have his own ways and processes resulting in a big mess *you don't know who do what: the training has forgotten to present your coworkers and teams, and their responsibilities!!! *your career path is really unknown and unclear: SOTI don't even know how much is a good pay to pay you and pay you in general 20% less than the median for the same skillset. They will wait the very end of the interview to let you know the salary is fixed and non negociable: it's irrespectful for your time and is arrogant. *hard workers don't get recognized there
