Pros
Decent salary for workload. Telework...for now. Current Commissioner is horrible and is revoking it left and right.
Cons
Promotions seem based on making people feel good about themselves - not competence. Terrible management. Uses carrots and sticks mentality instead of intrinsic motivation to accomplish goals. Makes it feel like factory work, which is definitely how mgmt sees it. Coworkers are underqualified and don't seem like they should have government jobs. Lots of bankruptcies, drug addicts, mentally ill, criminals, etc., working here. Telework revoked for most components, so you have to be in the office with said employees. Very, very poor communication by supervisors. Current Commissioner is all about self-promotion and clueless about the agency. Depends on the last Acting Commissioner, whose only agenda is affirmative action, and crowd sourcing ideas on an intranet site to lead. Arbitrary work assignments and treatment. If mgmt doesn't like you, you will do all the grunt work. They also won't train you or give you access to materials to make your job easier if they don't like you. Union (AFGE) unless.
