Pros

Fully remote Unlimited PTO (during Q1-Q3 only) Many talented, caring, hardworking individuals

Cons

Leadership does not care (read the reviews!!!) and has no issue lying straight to your face about pretty much everything. There is no way to move up or have any growth, so don’t work at Snappy if you care about yourself. Complete lack of transparency at every level. You will be asked constantly to go above and beyond for nothing in return. Retaining talent is not a priority which is richly ironic since Snappy is an employee recognition platform, and prides itself on being a key mechanism for retention. It is not a surprise that many people across all departments have quit over the past four months and continue to do so. Pay is wayyyy below market, and there is unbelievable pay inequity within teams and across departments (people talk about their salaries). Unattainable quotas for the vast majority due to completely randomized books of business, and intentionally unachievable goals are set for teams who don’t have books of business. For the very few who have the sheer luck of reaching or exceeding their quotas (in their own words), quotas are then increased and payout is decreased. There are many individual contributors who would make incredible managers but were never given the chance to grow into these roles. There are very few decent managers and most managers were put in these roles through favoritism or tenure and have zero experience managing people. I have never in my life seen such high levels of incompetence from people put in management and leadership positions. You can read the plethora of reviews about the massive 30% layoffs. They hired 100 people in 2022 and fired 100 people in 2023. They were done inhumanely with hardly any severance given, and not to mention the VAST majority of people of color, which was already a very small percentage of the company, were laid off. Those who were kept did not get their 2022 bonuses which are part of comp packages and have no ability for a raise until potentially spring of 2024. This will be based on how the company does financially, and everyone knows it continues to go downhill. Yes, the market conditions were and are bad, there’s no denying that. However, the company is run by someone with no business experience and had no CFO until November 2022. There was reckless, frivolous spending for years and no financial oversight. They over hired and overworked everyone in the busiest time each year (holiday season), and then laid 30% of the company off RIGHT after the holidays. Everyone was preparing for their annual performance reviews which were supposed to be that month, and which are always being moved and timelines shifted. There are people who have been at Snappy for over two years, making LESS than their counterparts who were hired after them, and have never had a compensation review due to leadership and HR’s incompetence, inability to be consistent, and lack of care or prioritization regarding equitable benefits and compensation. The VP of People left months ago and there has been no word about hiring for this role. Employee experience is not anywhere on leadership’s list of priorities. Yet they still forced everyone into performance reviews. How do you expect anyone to set goals if there is no chance to achieve anything? Everything at this company is done in a fake, performative way. They are also still laying off people individually and not saying a word about it to anyone. The only reason people know is because the people who got laid off are disappearing from Slack and reaching out to let their colleagues know. Most people anticipate more layoffs pre or post holidays. The company has no money, is a complete dumpster fire, and obvious systemic issues are blamed on individuals who are being pushed out, since no one on top would ever consider taking responsibility for terrible decision-making and bad leadership. There is rampant toxic positivity and micromanaging everywhere you turn. Leadership acts as if it's not on them that everyone is miserable and trying to get out (they are simply holding on to the fact that it's a tough market for job seekers). Many people advocate for themselves on a regular basis and get absolutely nowhere. Their mental health is terrible and they are completely drained from this place. Most of those who may seem more content are also extremely frustrated and unhappy but scared to speak up or have tried in the past and were drowned in demoralizing toxic positivity. The product is great in ways although very elementary and not intuitive at all. It is a “nice to have” for customers and that will not change by offering childish animations and a virtual scavenger hunt. Leadership is extremely detached from how customers use the platform and the value or lack of value they get from it. There has never been reliable data and so decisions are never data-driven (even if they pretend to be). Processes are always rolled out half-baked and never with input from the people who actually do the work and would have valuable insight to share.
