Pros
- Very smart engineers - Free food (for now)
Cons
I was apart of the unexpected mass layoff. Many smart people were let go. So many families were impacted. Yet the CEO took in 638 million his first year. Leadership is the #1 problem at Snap and they have been trying to improve this for years with no change. One would think leadership would be included in this recent layoff, but they were not. Performance reviews, bonuses, and raises are not apart of their culture Everyone is working against unknown goals held for them so leadership can hold the upper hand. Long working hours and expectations are toxic in almost every department. I strongly advise future talent to look past the money and benefits. This company thrives off intimidation. Innovation is lacking because everyone fears for their job. Management is largely inexperienced and dismissive of new ideas. Post-IPO layoffs, FTE to contractor conversions, longtime VPs leaving; all red flags. Don't make the mistake many did. There are other companies out there with a better culture and more rewarding than just offering good pay and perks.
