Pros

Ascentium has potential as a company, there are some talented people that work here but I'd say it is 1 out of 7 people (at the most). Ascentium offers work life balance

Cons

Ascentium depends too much on Microsoft business to stay afloat. Billable rates are too high and employees think that Ascentium has a better reputation than it actually does. There is a thick layer of fat at the top. In a company where the bottom line is so critical, we have a lot of "partners" that contribute nothing but supposed strategic thinking and huge egos. Too many acquisitions without initial layoffs upfront caused sudden layoffs and pay cuts - with little notice. The people running the company desperately want to have a huge company and so they have made stupid acquisitions. Ascentium also has a 'no process' & 'fun' culture - but much of that leads to disorganization. It is a phony company. I think of it as a kiddy company in grown up clothes.

Pros

some of the team is very talented and well-meaning

Cons

Culture and leadership! In absolutely no circumstance should a team member that has been successful for 6 years+ be completely blindsided by a layoff. The company has been through many changes of leadership and though culture was never a strength it has continued on an escalating downward spiral recently. Those that should be shepherding the culture don't make it a priority. As an example, 9 out of 10 of my 1:1's with my direct supervisor were canceled last minute - unacceptable in a fully remote organization. The company is definitely up for sale and looking to maximize in the short term. Do not join this trainwreck!
