In no particular order: Feedback to senior leadership is taken as insults as opposed to voicing a problem, and if you do raise critical feedback this is reframed back at you as you being the problem unless you can tell the employer (who is in the position of power) how to fix the problem they have caused. They are demanding a forced return to office work in spite of political recommendations to work from home where possible under the guise of better engagement, and when presented with clear and very loud feedback that this change is not necessary or welcomed have ignored it and carried on anyway. Sunk cost fallacy on projects that are over-promised, under-deliver and then actively hamper front line staff means that nothing positive happens behind the scenes and change is glacial (and see prior comments about feedback for how feedback on these issues goes). The right things are said to look good but the reality is that senior leadership are cracking down on anyone who disagrees with them and working to get rid of staff as quickly as possible. Longevity of service is no longer valued and in fact makes you appear to be a target for redundancy, and going to work is now more an exercise in how to keep your head down to avoid being noticed. Pay is mediocre at best, but progression is basically non-existent, progressing “too” far (ie at all) almost guarantees you’ll be made redundant within 2 years given the repeated redundancies over the last decade and the workloads on every colleague are increasing rapidly beyond the scope of pay rises, not to mention the fear of AI taking all our jobs. “Flexibility” and understanding of different needs is all lip service, as there is no flexibility and any deviation from the norm or request to approach things differently earns veiled threats of disciplinary action at best or actual disciplinary action at worst, as has been made abundantly clear with the forced return to the office later this year. I loved Skipton and have been proud to work for the company for years but I’m currently ashamed to work for a place that cares so little about its staff, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Stay away for your own wellbeing.
