Working at Skinney Medspa was one of the most disappointing and demoralizing experiences of my career. This place thrives off a culture of manipulation, toxicity, and desperation. Employees are constantly pressured to text clients from personal phones to make sales. Commissions are “lost” in accounting, or mysteriously revised in favor of the house. Paychecks rarely reflect actual hours worked, and questioning management results in retaliation or thinly veiled threats about your job security. It’s systematic, deliberate, and exploitative.
Management—if you can even call it that—relies on a rotating door of underpaid employees turned “team leads” who are given just enough power to turn on each other. Instead of fostering growth or mentorship, they pit staff against one another to hit impossible sales goals, then shame or isolate those who fall behind. Gossip is encouraged, gaslighting is routine, and HR literally does not exist.
In terms of the day to day as a technician, protocols are often bent or outright ignored to squeeze in more appointments, which leaves you scrambling trying to juggle 3-4 clients at once. Machines are often uncalibrated, reused without proper sanitation, and operated by overworked providers who’ve been given minimal training. A dangerous combination that has resulted in various lawsuits.
Ultimately, skinney medspa is a toxic, dangerous, and unethical workplace masquerading as a luxury service provider. Do not work here unless you enjoy being underpaid, manipulated, and blamed for everything that goes wrong in a broken system. oh and you will leave here crying more often than not.
