Pros

Good healthcare. Could be a model for a location-independent workplace if there was less micromanagement

Cons

Toxic upper management with massive egos and power trips. Claims "innovation" in the industry but it's all talk. No real strategy in place across departments, limited growth professionally and anxiety-inducing colleague/management relationships. No mentorship. No real way to express issues with the company. Company culture is "cult-y" and if you don't participate or work late for show, you will be penalized whether you notice it or not. Tons of meetings and uses only Slack for communication. Always online expectation even when things are not urgent (were not saving lives here). Meetings that should be addressed in person/face-to-face are done via Slack, which is not only ineffective but often passive agressive. The company drives out employees who don't "fit" in and has a pattern of abnormal firing behavior.

Pros

I've worked at Skift for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. The company is wicked cool - I mean c'mon, one of our values is "f*** it, let's do it," we get to travel cool places (aka "live the brand" - our last company retreat was in Iceland!), the work/life balance is incredible, our events draw top execs from all over the world (how cool is it to say you've met the CEO of Uber, Airbnb, all the top airlines?), and last but certainly not least (read: most importantly), the people are amazing. I have never worked somewhere with such kind, intelligent humans - we all push each other to do better, support one another, and are genuine friends outside the office. There's so much opportunity here, and leadership empowers you to seek it out and see it through. I've grown so much professionally and personally these past few years, and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Cons

No 401K match; a "hustle" startup-like mindset - which isn't necessarily a bad thing but doesn't work for everyone. Pay is lower than what you might make doing the same job at another company. Some teams meet more frequently than others in person. Would be great to standardize this, and also to see each other more!
