Pros

- Large, open workspace - Amazing catered meals - Pets are welcome - Flip flops fine - Young, talented workforce - Respected, careful managers - Numerous tech meetups held on-site - Fun trips and adventures (Napa, Vegas, etc) - Infinite snacks, fresh fruit, even beer - Standing and sitting desks - Lovely brick and wood building (got charm) - Superb SOMA location (close to Powell St. Bart and 500 feet from CalTrain) - Numerous restaurants, coffee shops, parks nearby - Flexible hours - Travel and expenses well paid - You get to choose a lot of your own equipment - Occasional visits from Espresso Cart or Massage Therapist TLDR: Promising, fun company. Will MemSQL break into the billion-dollar database industry? Will growing pains disrupt it's momentum? There are many future(s) still to navigate.

Cons

- Various responsibilities at a startup can be murky or nebulous; requires much hard work, team communication, and creation of new policies/structure - Time off can be tricky if your position is heavily relied upon, or if your team is small or even one person - Dedication required - Learning and adapting as you go is a must, dynamic and growth-oriented is a necessity

Cons

Focus on creating a culture where employees feel respected, supported, and valued. Take employee feedback seriously and hold managers and team leads accountable for how they interact with their teams. When employees raise concerns or ask for support, ensure those issues are addressed with meaningful action rather than being overlooked. Better communication, transparency, and leadership accountability would help build trust, improve morale, and strengthen employee retention.
