Pros
People are great - clients and management Get to work in a home setting instead of an office Can work as many hours as you want Training is provided and takes three days or less Always hiring because clients need home care and there are too few aides
Cons
Low hourly wage and mileage pay No additional holiday, overtime or weekend pay Work is very physical; must be careful to prevent back injuries Required to use your own vehicle to get to and from clients and to transport them on errands or to appointments Must be available to work in a 6-county area, so most days end up being full-time, but you only get paid when clocked in with a client or for mileage between clients (not to and from first and last clients of the day)
