The degree of camaraderie in this organization is unmatched. You will get support when exposed to a new system or project. The staff is helpful and tight-knit. In addition, there's a good open door policy, even when the door is closed. As a contractor, I gained a good amount of skills just from learning Oracle & seeing how SSS works and a great respect for this organization.

For me it would be the commute as I'm in Baltimore and had to get to Arlington by public transportation. But that's the only downside.

Recent changes in management increased growth opportunities within the organization, particularly in PIA. Additionally, as a federal agency, there was a substantial budget for training which was readily approved by leadership.

The mission is a bit outdated, but that may be changing soon and would certainly add to the challenge of the workplace. If you’re looking for a growth opportunity and daily challenge/problem solving, this con would be a plus for you.
