Pros

Free passes to dress rehearsals, extremely passionate and wonderful coworkers, decent benefits, great way to fully immerse yourself in the fine art of opera.

Cons

Insultingly low pay, impersonal, insensitive and cold management, extremely unrealistic expectations relative to pay and experience, management considers making employees work overtime a reward for the employees, minuscule raises, and overall, a depressing, uncaring and demoralizing place to work.

Pros

Professional environment with protections for workplace discrimination and harassment Passionate people on the music side with much to share and give to the other musicians Getting to enjoy performing and the craft of opera to share with the audiences

Cons

Lack of communication from top level to others amongst the company. Can feel like you don't matter at times Low pay in comparison to other cities with much lower cost of living. Late night rehearsals so hard to pair with a morning day job (this is standard in the industry though) It's only part time.
