Pros
- My colleagues were passionate and hard-working people with plenty of expertise in workforce development. I found the culture very team-based: everyone was willing to help and offer feedback in order to meet shared goals.
- As an organization, SJI has a wide range of interesting projects, giving employees plenty of opportunities for growth and cross-team collaboration; I was able to work on national, regional, and local projects, and really enjoyed the chance to learn from people in different parts of the organization.
- During my time at SJI, there was a conscious effort to adopt cultural humility across SJI’s programs. I appreciated the opportunities offered to learn and grow on this front.
- Leadership encouraged taking initiative and was open to new ideas.
Cons
Quick changes made it hard to understand expectations at times. On the flip side, though, the leadership was always flexible when priorities changed and they were open for new, creative ways of doing things.
