Pros
- There is a culture of openness and transparency that encourages colleagues to give each other honest feedback. This creates a positive feedback loop: everyone gets feedback -> everyone improves -> standards get higher.
- When decisions are made everyone has a chance to share their view, but the company is explicit in weighing each person's view in proportion to how 'believable' they are on the topic (i.e. what their track record is). This leads to better decision making and allows a new starter who is an expert in a particular area to influence decisions from day one.
Cons
- You are expected to chase difficult targets (achieving 70% is considered a good result). This can be stressful.
- Every action is goal-oriented. If you want to do blue sky research then this is not the company for you. On the other hand, Seamless will back any idea, no matter how novel, if you can argue that it has a large expected return.
