Cons
My experience working at SchoolPass felt like a bad dream. I realize that sounds dramatic but this review is being written not to relive the experience, but in hopes that it saves even one potential employee from experiencing what I and countless others have gone through. The CEO /founder pits employees against one another, is not open to healthy debate or pushback and is verbally and mentally abusive to those on his team. He makes employees anxious, on edge, and fearful. He fosters the most unhealthy culture I’ve experienced during my 15+ year career. Colleagues confided in me that their mental health had taken a significant toll while working there. I feel the same was true for myself. The expectation is that employees will work unsustainable hours and put work before family and health. Employees are treated like children; required to account for their workdays, down to the minute, on daily time reports that can be viewed company-wide. The CEO/founder has no clear vision for the company, which is a result of his unwillingness to take any feedback, even from potential funders. Lastly, the product is unstable and lacks thoughtful functionality, especially when it claims to be necessary for the safety of students. There are so many amazing opportunities and so many exciting companies led by true leaders. Don’t settle. Keep looking and you will find something wonderful.
