Pros

Few consequences for failure. Almost impossible to get fired. Most customers dependant upon OEM for service so there is good customer loyalty regardless of the level of service provided. Take home pay good when overtime is considered.

Cons

Poor organization. Last minute schedule changes due to poor scheduling. Poor work/life balance. Having to deal with enraged customers angered by poor handling. A customer call-center structure that is getting worse by the day resulting in customers not being able to schedule service or get support. Excessive delays in getting pay issues resolved. Long delays in getting expenses reimbursed. Requires the use of one's personal vehicle to perform service calls. The reimbursement for this is not enough to compensate for fuel and wear and tear. You pretty much have to buy them a car for the privilege of working for them. Difficulties in getting used batteries and other used electronic gear disposed of properly. Used batteries have been known to have been left at customer sites for months.

Pros

- Decent pay and good benefits - work truck with gas card -good experience

Cons

- management is disconnected from field employees - review process does not reflect employee performance since managers do not go out in field in order to properly assess job performance - poor communication which leads to chaotic project implementation - no standardization of necessary info for each customer site. You walk in completely blind each time you visit a customer you’ve never been to - safety is important, but corporate pushes redundant messaging so frequently i believe it has the opposite of the intended effect - forced to wear long sleeves FR shirts in hot weather even when you are not exposed to fire hazards any more than a standard office employee
