Fight for better starting salary, else you will see people with less knowledge and less skills have way higher salary than you. And it is very difficult to increase significant salary. Salary increase depend on performance points, and max salary increase is little more than 4% yearly. Most will get little less than 3% yearly and some even less than 2%. So lets say if you earn 60K yearly, next year 3% increase will give you extra $34 weekly. not even a dollar increase per hour.
