Pros
-Great place to get exposed to a variety of credit invest
-Some of the investment team are very knowledgeable about markets and companies, and very connected to the Street so get great market color
-Willingness to mentor and train was nice
-Open communication about what was happening
Cons
-CIO had no idea what she was doing and tried to hide it for appearance sake. Almost never came up with ideas, and the ones she came up with were either sell-side pump and dump ideas or ideas where the upside/downside was skewed incredibly in the wrong way (e.g. make $1, risk $10)
-Risk management was scary - position sizes were often much too big for the risk.
-CIO seemed preoccupied with operations and trade settlement vs. figuring out how to make money.
-A lot of internal arguments and debates over strategy and approach
