Pros
Benefits, PERS, quick accumulation of paid time off, regular business hours for the most part. Get in the right group and you are golden.
Cons
Typical secretive government management mentality. Drink the cool aid, suck up, or leave. Get in the wrong group (the IT department comes to mind) and if you have any self respect you will be looking for an exit. Unless, of course, you drink deeply of the cool aid. Or enjoy being talked down to.
