Pros

Decent pay for the retail field. Okay benefits. Schedule is (supposed to be) posted three weeks in advance. Lots of nice people to work with.

Cons

Schedule is supposed to be posted three weeks in advance but in two months I had to beg my manager for the schedule three different times at the last minute. My spouse lost an entire week of work because couldn't get my schedule to her in time for her boss to write hers. The cafe schedule is extremely erratic and I never know what I am going to work each week because it's always completely different and sometimes we only get four hour shifts. Three disgruntled employees left in one month alone, one taking a thirty percent pay cut just so he could work elsewhere. Even though we have lost three people we are supposed to provide the same amount of output and the managers gang up on you if you can't achieve the impossible workload. I work in the cafe so it's basically like working in a fast food restaurant but I get paid $11/hr. Unfortunately, I was specifically interviewed for night stock and switched at the last second, being told that I was getting my foot in the door. My supervisor (who is almost never around when there is work to be done) denies ever interviewing me for night stock, and in the same breath he says he was being pressured by his boss to put me in the cafe. I asked the supervisor for assistance on new things I haven't done and he has blown me off repeatedly, then gets mad that I don't know how to do something. They aren't hiring any more people for the cafe even though we just lost three, which means I am indefinitely stuck in a position which I loathe because I am not a good fit for restaurant work. The schedule is regularly changed after it gets posted and you can do nothing about it unless you are in school or have a spouse, job, or other obligations but sometimes they act like they couldn't care less. We have to work alone alone a lot and close the cafe by ourselves sometimes which is extremely stressful but we're told to shrug it off. All in all it's the worst position in the entire store and I would not recommend it to anyone. When I started three months ago I thought I could work here for the next twenty-five years and then retire but I can't even get into the department in which I have the most experience.

Pros

The pay is good and so are the benefits.

Cons

This is the worst job I have ever had. I made it 3 weeks before leaving and never coming back. They had me working 12 hour shifts when I was scheduled for 8 but couldn’t leave because I wasn’t finished with the large workload they piled on me. There was absolutely no teamwork, our manager just abandoned us so they could go hang out with their friends. There was no organization, no structure. 100% sure my manager never even knew my name. They had us breaking down pallets just to restack them. There are no consequences for management at all, they can basically do whatever they want and nobody is gonna do anything to stop it. If they're short they throw you into different departments with no training.
